There are often times when my son will ask me to stand close by while he is doing something. He wants me to be in his line of sight to know I am there and present. He would be using the restroom, and wants to see my foot or hand and if i walk away, he asks, "Mom, where are you?". I always respond with, "I'm right here" and I tell him where I am. He always says, "But, I can't see you..", every time he would say that, I always say, "But you can hear me.". The more this happened the more it was revealed to me, that this can be us with God. Just as a child with a parent, that is us with God. I respond and tell him I am right there, and although he cant see me, he begins to trust that I am there because He can hear me. It took time for him to get to that point, I had to pop up and say here I am, or keep something in his sight to let him know that I was there. We have an all present God that we cannot see physically, however we can hear Him. There are sometimes in life and in our situation, that we are like ummm "Yo, GOD... Where you at? Cause I can't see You... like You here or what? and I am finding His response to be, well "Can you hear Me though?" The truth is, we can be in a completely empty room, nobody else around, and He is there with us. In the stillness that is where we find Him the most. If you allow it, you can see Him and Hear him in many different forms, I mean helllooooooo... He is the Creator of the Universe, so of course He speaks through all things. There are things in our lives that can potentially cause us to hear Him in a way we shouldn't or see Him as something He isn't though. If you didn't have a lot of communication in your home growing up, it might be difficult to think you can talk to God whenever and He is there to listen. Maybe people left in your life that caused you to believe that God would be the same, when the truth of the matter is that He has been there the entire time. The bible states that He will never leave you nor forsake you. & that Word is true. There are times in our lives, I believe however, that we may tend to put God in a box. We have to learn to discern and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. This is something that has to be done. While this world and all its responsibilities are screaming at you, is God having to raise His voice to speak over the noise? Have you dismissed what He said because you weren't used to a loving Father, a correction from a parent, or maybe You have gone so long without talking to Him that you don't even know what He sounds like. There can be so many people and things that pulls us in different directions and I believe God is inviting us to sit with Him. Feel His presence. Learn His voice. Drown out all the noise. Life still happens, I get it.. but God has to be our guide. If we ever needed Him (which we always have), It is now. Don't think you have messed up in life so bad that He doesn't hear you or want to talk to you, that is the furthest thing from the truth. If you have no one else to talk to, HE is there... you can call on Him and talk to Him whenever and wherever you are. He is a GOOD Father, a loving one,and a gentle one.

Father, I pray that we seek You while You may be found. That we realize what an honor it is to hear You. I ask that anything that isn't of You gets removed from our vision and hearing... that every other voice is silenced. I pray that Your Holy Spirit will lead and guide us this year. That we seek You to not just ask You for things, but that we truly get to know You. That Your people would learn Your presence, understand You in a deeper way. God, give us a craving to read Your Word. To consume it in such a way that it shows and overflows into every part of our lives. That our lives would be a living sacrifice for You. That we would seek You and know You, learn You and love You. Purify our hearts, purify our vision, and purify our sight. Let our lives become altars of fire that burn for You. May we hear You and obey You. I love you Abba. Amen.
